Testing Out Bloglovin

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey everybody! So I know I haven’t done a new blog post in a while, but I have been keeping up on my social media. So I just wanted to keep you guys up to date on that and let you know I am still posting on my social media, and will also have a new blog post up tomorrow. I got a few new products gathered up and will be doing a reviews/first impression post tomorrow.

So other then on here, you can find me on snapchat with the username, Corinnascornerx. There was no room for the xo, so just the x. I will go ahead and put a snapchat screenshot for you here to access it more easily.

Also, I have recently really gotten in to using Twitter. My Twitter handle is @corinnascorner and I plan on actually doing a post about Twitter soon with some tips and tricks on how to use it. I also have my Corinna’s Corner Facebook page, as well as my instagram @corinnascornerxo.

The point of this post is that I am going to try to sync my blog up as well with Bloglovin. I have seen more and more people using this platform but I am honestly not sure how it works really, so this will all just be one big test drive pretty much. So, maybe you can follow me on Bloglovin and give me some tips on how to use it as well. Let me know in the comments below the best way to utilize Bloglovin.

Don’t forget, I will have a new reviews post up tomorrow. Until then, thanks for reading.

October Sephora Play

This month I finally achieved a dream of mine, and was able to get off the waitlist and get a subscription to Sephora Play. For those of you who don’t know Sephora Play is a $10 monthly subscription bag from Sephora. You receive 4-5 mini size products, as well as a perfume sample each month for only $10. There is a waitlist and they will email you when a spot opens, from what I have heard and experienced it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get your email invitation. Make sure to watch your email because you only have a small amount of time to accept the subscription before your spot is given away. I really enjoy this box because all the products are of course, sold at Sephora. Let’s jump on in and see what I received.

The first thing I noticed in the box was the Madam CJ Walker’s coconut oil. It is suppose to be nourishing and moisturizing for your hair. I have never tried coconut oil in my hair before but I did try this out and I really enjoyed it. It gave my hair a nice shine, and I love the scent of it. It really just made my hair seem extra clean. You only have to use a small amount so I think this size of a bottle will really last me a good amount of time. I probably won’t use it everyday because I think it can definitely make my hair oily if I use it too much. You can purchase 0.5 oz of this at Sephora for $14. I will most likely repurchase if I continue to get the same results.

The next product I pulled out of the box was a Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Driver’s Seat”. I think this is an awesome shade for fall, and the swatch looks really pretty. It is like a dark, nude mauve color. I have seen a lot about these liquid lipsticks so I am excited to try it out and see how well it wears. These liquid lipsticks retail for $24 full size at Sephora.

I also received the Skin Dew setting spray by Farmacy. I have tried Farmacy face masks in the past and I really enjoyed them and thought they were extremely moisturizing so I am excited to try out this setting spray. This says it should be hydrating but I haven’t tried it out yet, I am hoping it hydrates my skin and helps my makeup be longlasting. This retails for $44 at Sephora, full size.

The next lip product I grabbed is the Estee Lauder Flash Photo Gloss. I have never heard of this product before but from what I have read it is a gloss to put over a lip color and it will make your teeth look whiter in photos. It has an iridescent blue tint to the gloss. From just swatching the gloss I do feel like it seems pretty thick to me. I am definitely interested in trying this out and seeing if I notice a change in my teeth. I do think it is a very cool idea for a product though. This full sized product retails at Sephora for $20.

The final product I received in this bag was Night Serum from the Drunk Elephant. I tried this out last night and I thought my skin looked and felt awesome. My face looked brighter in the morning when I woke up, so I am definitely interested in trying this product out some more. I have heard good things about this brand and this is the first product I am actually trying out from them. This full size product costs $90 so I will have to be really impressed to actually repurchase this item.

The bag also came with a small sample of the Derek Lam 10 Crosby perfume in the scent Silent Street, but honestly every bag coming with a perfume sample is not that much of a big deal to me because I have so many perfume samples already, this will just get tossed in with the others. Overall for $10 I do think this bag was pretty cool, I will receive another bag next month and really decide if this subscription is worth it. Thank you all for reading, until next time.

Makeup Haul

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I am so excited for the first weekend of October. I might spend my weekend up in Los Angeles or stay home and enjoy some NFL football on Sunday, I am not quite sure yet. I hope whatever you all have planned that you have an awesome weekend. Now today’s post is a makeup haul post, so let’s jump on in and see all the new goodies I got.

So the first thing I wanted to share with you all is my Elf cosmetics purchase I made. I bought some of their new online products to test out and see what I thought, I prefer to buy Elf online because I feel as if they have so many more products online than in store. The first product I got was their new Molten Liquid Eyeshadow in the shade “Rose Gold”. I swatched this and I love it. I think it looked beautiful and that it also dried down very well, it was also such a pretty color. It truly is a rose gold shade. This was only $4 and I want to go back and buy all the shades, such a good price. I also ordered their new High Shine Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Naked Nude” which retails for $4 as well. Unlike the eyeshadows though, I did not like this product at all. I haven’t tried it on my lips but as a swatch alone I feel like it is very heavy, and also seems messy. It did not dry down at all, it is like a pigmented gloss. I just was not a huge fan.

Then I also got 2 more products from Elf that I was really excited for. I got their new $10 Brush Cleaning Glove. I currently use a Sigma brush cleaning mat to wash my brushes, but it is very big and fills my whole sink. This glove is perfect if I am only cleaning a few brushes, or I also think it is perfect to bring on a trip. I have already used it on some brushes and for only $10 I think it is totally worth it. I definitely recommend this product for anyone who is trying to find a better way to clean brushes. I was also very excited to order and try their new Highlighting Dewy Drops. So these drops retail for only $4 and I was thinking they could be a possible dupe for Mac Strobe Cream which is much more expensive, but I love them. I don’t know if this is an exact dupe because I have only swatched it so far but it seems pretty similar to me. From the swatch I can tell that a little bit goes a long way and it does give off a very nice natural highlight. The only thing that worries me is it does seem a bit oily, I am not sure how well it will mix with my foundation or last throughout the day. For $4 though, I definitely think these will be worth it to try.

So lastly from Elf I got a free bundle promo for my online purchase. So they sent me a $15 bundle for free with my purchase. The first thing I noticed in the bundle was their Complexion Brush. I am excited to try this out because their Angled Blush Brush is my favorite blush brush ever. This brush is online for $4, and you can get the blush brush for for $4 as well. The next thing I got in the bundle was their Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara in black, as well as the “Matte for Plum” Flawless Eyeshadow Palette. The mascara retails for $3 but I haven’t tried it yet. The wand does look nice though and I am always excited for a new mascara. I swatched the eyeshadow palette and it barely had any pigment, I will probably give it to my Niece or something. The palette retails for $2. I also received the Bronzer palette in the shade “Warm”. This retails for $4, and the packaging actually has a little mirror on the inside which I thought was a nice touch for only costing $4. It has 4 different bronzing shades, but sadly I did not find this product very pigmented either. I have heard good things about it before, so maybe it will wear better on my face. I was not impressed with the swatches of it though. Lastly the bundle came with an EX-tra Lip Gloss in the shade “Michael”. I have not worn this gloss yet but when I swatched it I was shocked. I think it is a very beautiful pink color, and the formula seems nice too. This gloss retails for $3 on the Elf website.

The last part of my haul are just some random Walmart purchases I made. The first thing I bought that I wanted to try was the Flower Beauty Stick Foundation. So I haven’t bought makeup at Walmart in a while and I had never seen Flower Beauty before. The foundation stick cost about $8 I believe so I decided to try it out because I love my Makeup Forever foundation stick. I then searched Flower Beauty on my phone and realized it is Drew Barrymore’s cosmetic brand. I have tried this out once since I bought it and I was not a fan of it, but with that being said I did forget to put moisturizer on before applying my primer and foundation. I have extremely dry skin so that could have definitely affected my opinion on the product. I will try it out again. If you are curious, I got it in the shade “SF2”. I also picked up the New York Color BB Creme. I got it in the shade “01 Light”, and I honestly pretty much just got it because it was only $3. I have been loving BB creams lately so once I saw it and saw the $3 price tag I just threw it in my basket because I knew I had to try it. I have not tried it out yet but I swatched a little bit and it seems to have a dewy finish. I am excited to try it on my face. The last product I got was the Maybelline Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick. I got this in the shade “01 Light” as well, because I am so pale currently. I actually thought this looked like a powder kind of formula, but when I opened it and swatched it I realized it was a cream contour stick and it made me so excited. It swatched beautifully and I am excited to try it out with a full face of makeup.

That is all the new products I have bought within the last few weeks. Sadly now that I have moved out this first month I definitely had to hold back on shopping. I also received 2 of the 5 new little Morphe eyeshadow palettes but those will have their own post coming up in the next few days, I have not been able to put them down they are so pretty. Anyways, thank you all for reading this haul and I hope you have a great weekend.

My Fitness/Health Journey: The Start

Hey everyone! This post is going to be different from the previous posts I have done. I am currently at a point in my life where I need to make a change. I am tired, out of shape, and not even comfortable in my own body at this point. So I am going to try my best to make this change and to live a healthier, happier life. I want to just document this journey and show you guys the changes I am making because I hope that you guys can help me along the way (I am in no way a fitness guru) and maybe I can even help and motivate some of you guys as well.

First I want to give you guys just a little back story on me and what sparked this change in me. When I was in 5th-8th grade, I was 5’1″-5’2″ and weighing in at about 170-180 pounds and I hated myself. I always felt judged and it was a horrible feeling and did a lot of damage to my self confidence.

I started high school, and also started to play soccer. Soccer helped me lose some of the weight and throughout high school I was about 140 pounds and really started to gain a little bit of self confidence. Right when I was graduating high school I also got out of a very toxic relationship that I was in for the last 2 years of high school. So the summer after high school I went through huge life changes and was in almost like a daze, which dropped my weight to only 114 pounds.

Once I started college I started dating my current boyfriend Daniel (we have been together for 3.5 years now) and with a new relationship came happiness. As much as I love Daniel, the happiness of our relationship and how comfortable he makes me feel has brought back all of my weight. I am currently weighing in at about 170 pounds and am 5’3″. I know that now is my time to make a change, and take back control of my body and health.

So that is where I am now. Daniel and I are currently looking to move into a new apartment, and I figured with the new life changes now would be the perfect time. My goal is to not only look better physically, but to also feel better emotionally. I want to have energy and not feel so tired and worn down all the time. I want to take back control of my body before I just completely get to a point where I want to give up. I want to love myself.

To start this journey I want to begin by feeding my body better and fueling it in a more natural way, and not just eating fast food because it tastes good and is so simple. I’ve been using Pinterest to search for healthy options and healthy lists to take to the grocery store with me. I tend to go to Trader Joes for my groceries or also Costco if I know Daniel will eat some too, and we can just buy in bulk.

I picked up some books to start me off. So I bought the “Cravings” cook book by Chrissy Teigen. Not all the recipes in this book are necessarily healthy ones but Chrissy Teigen is goals lets be real. I love her, and she really inspires me on this journey. Her body is definitely rocking. I also just recently started reading the book “Make Your Own Rules Diet” by Tara Stiles. I just found out about Tara and for those of you who do not know she is a well known yoga instructor. I love yoga and meditation it is just so relaxing to me, so this book incorporates that as well as a healthy diet to go with it. This diet also isn’t very strict so I think it will be an easier one to start with. It comes with a 30 day yoga/meal plan which I will start once I finish the book and keep you guys up to date on that as well. Another huge inspiration for me on this journey is Khloe Kardashian, and I highly recommend her book “Strong Looks Better Naked” especially if you are a Kardashian fan like me. Khloe has had a huge fitness change in her life and it is so inspiring. I also met her on her book tour and she was so sweet and motivating. So these books are my starting point.

For the physical fitness aspect of my journey I have started by using a Fitbit HR. I just recently started using it but I LOVE my Fitbit. It honestly makes everything just so much easier to track. I have it synced with the app on my phone, so it tracks my steps, heart rate, sleep cycle, miles I have walked, flights of stairs, and also the calories I have burned through out the day. I really love that it tracks my sleep cycle because I know that sleep is a very important aspect in a healthy lifestyle. The Fitbit also has an exercise mode to track when I am working out. Another favorite thing about my Fitbit is that I can add my friends on the app. I am currently doing weekday challenges with friends to see who can get the most steps, and it is honestly so motivating….because lets be real, I hate losing. I really recommend a Fitbit for somebody just starting out like myself. I also use my Fitbit to track my food that I eat, count calories, and also to track my water intake for the day.

Another physical change is that I just signed up for a local cycling studio. I have only done a few classes so far but I have fallen in love. Cycling is such an amazing workout and to do a cycling class is just so fun and upbeat. I love the music and how it stays dim so you aren’t worried about other people judging you or staring at you. I wore my Fitbit to my last class and it said I lost a little over 800 calories in 45 minutes, so that is amazing. I also tend to try and do yoga at home when I have the time. I want to try and find some local yoga classes as well.

Whoo! This was a long post, so thank you so much for sticking around and reading it. I really hope to stick to my word and really try to make an all around life change. I am also open to any and all recommendations or tips, so if you have any please leave them in the comments below. Love you guys!

What’s in my bag: Lip EditionĀ

This is my very first blog post! I am so excited to start this journey and I’m so happy that you have found your way to this post, so let’s just jump on in!
These are the lip products that have been swimming around in my bag for the last few days. I’m going to break them down from left to right and give you a quick review on each one.

On the far left I have an Urban Decay Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in the shade “Sesso”. This is the only Urban Decay Lipgloss I own and I LOVE it, it is definitely one of my favorite glosses and the color looks great on my lips. It is a sticky formula but that doesn’t bother me, especially because the gloss lasts a while with one application. I was told by a Sephora worker once that this shade is only available in the Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette (which is one of my favorite palettes of all time).

Next is the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Lolita”. This is probably my most used liquid lipstick EVER. I love the formula, how long it lasts, and the color. It looks absolutely perfect over Mac’s “whirl” lip liner. I have nothing bad to say about Kat Von D liquid lipsticks at all, they are about $21 I believe, and they are totally worth it.

Then we have a classic Mac Cosmetics Lipstick in the shade “Taupe”. This is another favorite of mine (of course, thats why it is always in my bag). It is such a nice light taupe brown, it is perfect. I prefer liquid lipsticks over regular lipsticks, but when it comes to Mac you can never get too many lipsticks. I almost always have at least one Mac lipstick somewhere in my bag.

Next is a lip liner from the Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani collaboration. This collaboration has the cutest packaging I have ever seen. You can totally see Gwen’s style in it, and knowing that she put that much attention into her collaboration and products is a nice feeling. This is the shade “ex-girlfriend” and I love it under any nude shades. It is a very nice and creamy formula.

Finally but certainly not least, I have the Kylie Cosmetics Lipgloss in the shade “Literally”. I have all three shades of the lip glosses but this one for some reason came in a liquid lipstick tube, which are actually slightly bigger so I am not complaining! Not only am I a huge Kylie Jenner fan but I actually really love the quality of her products. These glosses are not too sticky, have a nice scent, and are very long lasting as well. There is one shade lighter called “So Cute” and one other darker shade called “Like”, which happens to be my favorite shade. For $18 a piece, I love these glosses!

If I had to choose an absolute die hard favorite out of all of these lip products it would definitely have to be a tie between the Kylie Cosmetic’s Lipgloss and the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick. It depends on if I am in the mood for a gloss, or in the mood for a matte lip. All of these products are great choices though if you are looking for any new lip products!
