October Sephora Play

This month I finally achieved a dream of mine, and was able to get off the waitlist and get a subscription to Sephora Play. For those of you who don’t know Sephora Play is a $10 monthly subscription bag from Sephora. You receive 4-5 mini size products, as well as a perfume sample each month for only $10. There is a waitlist and they will email you when a spot opens, from what I have heard and experienced it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get your email invitation. Make sure to watch your email because you only have a small amount of time to accept the subscription before your spot is given away. I really enjoy this box because all the products are of course, sold at Sephora. Let’s jump on in and see what I received.

The first thing I noticed in the box was the Madam CJ Walker’s coconut oil. It is suppose to be nourishing and moisturizing for your hair. I have never tried coconut oil in my hair before but I did try this out and I really enjoyed it. It gave my hair a nice shine, and I love the scent of it. It really just made my hair seem extra clean. You only have to use a small amount so I think this size of a bottle will really last me a good amount of time. I probably won’t use it everyday because I think it can definitely make my hair oily if I use it too much. You can purchase 0.5 oz of this at Sephora for $14. I will most likely repurchase if I continue to get the same results.

The next product I pulled out of the box was a Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Driver’s Seat”. I think this is an awesome shade for fall, and the swatch looks really pretty. It is like a dark, nude mauve color. I have seen a lot about these liquid lipsticks so I am excited to try it out and see how well it wears. These liquid lipsticks retail for $24 full size at Sephora.

I also received the Skin Dew setting spray by Farmacy. I have tried Farmacy face masks in the past and I really enjoyed them and thought they were extremely moisturizing so I am excited to try out this setting spray. This says it should be hydrating but I haven’t tried it out yet, I am hoping it hydrates my skin and helps my makeup be longlasting. This retails for $44 at Sephora, full size.

The next lip product I grabbed is the Estee Lauder Flash Photo Gloss. I have never heard of this product before but from what I have read it is a gloss to put over a lip color and it will make your teeth look whiter in photos. It has an iridescent blue tint to the gloss. From just swatching the gloss I do feel like it seems pretty thick to me. I am definitely interested in trying this out and seeing if I notice a change in my teeth. I do think it is a very cool idea for a product though. This full sized product retails at Sephora for $20.

The final product I received in this bag was Night Serum from the Drunk Elephant. I tried this out last night and I thought my skin looked and felt awesome. My face looked brighter in the morning when I woke up, so I am definitely interested in trying this product out some more. I have heard good things about this brand and this is the first product I am actually trying out from them. This full size product costs $90 so I will have to be really impressed to actually repurchase this item.

The bag also came with a small sample of the Derek Lam 10 Crosby perfume in the scent Silent Street, but honestly every bag coming with a perfume sample is not that much of a big deal to me because I have so many perfume samples already, this will just get tossed in with the others. Overall for $10 I do think this bag was pretty cool, I will receive another bag next month and really decide if this subscription is worth it. Thank you all for reading, until next time.

September Favorites and an Unfavorite

Hello everybody and thank you for reading today’s post, which is my September favorites and even an unfavorite. I know it has been quite a while since my last post and I just wanted to tell you guys thank you for sticking through it with me, I recently moved and it has been a little more stressful than I imagined. I will be having a life update post about all that up on Wednesday, as well as a haul/first impressions post up on Friday. I am trying to post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this month as well as daily on Instagram. So let’s hope I can keep it up, and let’s jump on into this post.

My first favorite for the month of September is actually a product that I tried once and hated, then never picked it up again until this month and I fell in love. It is the Real Techniques 102 triangle concealer brush. I do not even know why I didn’t like this brush at first, I think it is because back then I was only using a beauty blender for my concealer, but now I love using this brush. I switch between this brush and a tiny beauty blender, but I think this brush gets the job done quick. I like using this brush when I use more concealer since the beauty blender I use is so small. I think it has great coverage, and I love the triangular shape it has so I can get all areas covered easily. This retails for $15.00 and I got this at Ulta, but I know it is available online as well.

The next favorite I have is the Studio Makeup on-the-go eyeshadow palette. I received this at the beginning of the month in my Boxycharm and I have not put it down. I am so in love with this palette, it is extremely pigmented and blends like a dream. It has a little bit of fall out, but honestly I don’t mind. The very middle shade that is like a dark orange shimmery copper shade is possibly my favorite eyeshadow shade ever. Also, I do not own the Kylie Cosmetics palette but this palette looks like it could be similar, it has similar shades and the same type of packaging. This is definitely my new favorite palette at the moment, and will probably go with me whenever I travel. To me this palette is a little pricey because I have never heard of this brand, but the quality is awesome so I think the $49.95 price tag is worth it if you have the extra cash. You can buy this online on the Studio Makeup website.

My third favorite product I have this month is the Jouer essential lip enhancer. I received this product in my Fall September Beautycon box this month, but I have actually used this product before. I finished an entire tube of this product a few months ago and never repurchased but this brought my love for the product back. I use this product every single week day morning before I go to work. It really makes my lips hydrated and I wish I took a before picture because I have started to notice my lips are a lot fuller. I just have the original one, but I also know they sell them in tinted colors. You can buy these on the Jouer website for $16. This is my favorite lip treatment ever, and I think it is definitely worth the money. I might actually go buy a back up right now!

My next favorite actually isn’t a makeup product, it is a bracelet I received in my latest Rocksbox. If you do not have Rocksbox, I suggest you go back a few posts and read my post about it. It is an unlimited jewelry rental subscription and has amazing products. You can get your first month free with the code “CORINNASCORNERXOXOXO” and you won’t regret it. This is the silver Moonsong Cuff by Jenny Bird. It is bendable so it can be totally adjusted any size you’d like. I love it. It is so simple but it can go with any outfit, and I am just so in love with it. I actually first saw it worn by youtuber, LeighannSays, and I fell in love with the Jenny Bird brand. That is how I knew to put Jenny Bird on my Rocksbox wishlist. This retails for $85 on the Jenny Bird site, but you can get it at a discounted member price if you do decide to sign up for Rocksbox.

My final favorite for the month of September are the Tarte Lip Sculptors. I have the shade Rogue which is a dark berry shade, and I also have the shade Basic which is the perfect nude shade. These are lipsticks on one end, with a matching lipgloss on the other end. I always wear lipstick under my gloss, so I love how these shades match perfectly and I’m not searching for a gloss and lipstick that match. I also really like the formula of the gloss, it is long lasting and not too sticky. These are exclusive to Ulta, and retail for $24 which I think is a great price especially because they are like a 2 for 1 product. Basic is definitely my favorite shade out of the 2 I purchased.

So now for my unfavorite for September. I really do not like the Ole Henriksen sheer transformation moisturizer. I tested this product out a few months ago and thought it was making me oily, so stopped using it. I started using it again to give it another chance and I am convinced this product breaks me out. I rarely ever ever ever get acne, maybe 1 or 2 zits at a time. Using this product at one point I had 6 different problem spots on my face. It was ridiculous and the worst my skin has ever been. Once I stopped using this moisturizer, it was fine again. I am not even going to look up the price of this product (although I do think it is $15 at Sephora for the smallest size)  because I do not want you all to waste your money. So disappointed in this moisturizer.

That is it for this post, and the end of September 2016. I hope you all had a great month and here is to an awesome October. I can’t wait for Fall and the holiday seasons. I am so ready! Until next time, thank you all for reading.

Fall 2016 Beautycon Box

Hey everyone! It is officially the best time of the year, also known as the Fall season! Today I am going to break down the Fall 2016 Beautycon Box. For those that do not know, Beautycon Box is a seasonal subscription and each box comes out to be $38 after shipping and everything else. Each box is over $100 in value and has a collaborator who is typically a social media influenster. So this box is done in collaboration with Makeup Shayla and Angel aka Mac Daddy. Let’s jump on into the box then.

The first thing that catches my eye are these cute little accessories that don’t typically come in these boxes. There is a little bag of some cute pink gummy sugar lips by Sugarfina. I also noticed a really cute lipstick pin by Laser Kitten. These things don’t typically come in the box but I think they are really cute unique touches. Also Beautycon threw in some really cute stickers that definitely match Shayla and Angel’s personalities. I especially love the sticker that looks like Shayla’s dog Titus. There is also a sketch of Angel & Shayla done by @rongrong_devoe_illustration on instagram, and it is an awesome piece of art.

Next I notice the Flutter Lashes. I am extremely excited about these because they are the “#islay” lashes which were actually created in collaboration with Shayla. These are also limited edition lashes, so that is pretty cool they were included. Shayla is always wearing these lashes on snapchat and I love the way they look. They also included a small tube of the clear white Duo eyelash glue, so that is great because you are ready to wear your lashes now.

The next product I grab out of the box is by Simple skincare and it is a pack of their cleansing facial wipes. I have tried Simple wipes before and I honestly am not a fan. I typically just use these wipes for swatches, or just keep them in my car for emergencies. I found them to be really rough on my skin.

Jouer’s Essential Lip Enhancer is the next product in the box and I am so excited because this is actually one of my holy grail products and I recently ran out of it. This product is great at hydrating and refreshing your lips. Shayla also uses this quite often on snapchat, and I have been using it for at least 2 years. It also really helps with the fullness of your lips, I highly recommend this product.

The next product is a Double Ended Highlighter Pencil by The BrowGal. I have never heard of this brand before but anything with the word “highlighter” can make me excited. I swatched this pencil and I can already tell it is a very creamy texture, seems to blend well and it does look like it could be a very pretty brow highlight. One end is matte and the other end is shimmer. I think by the looks of it, I would use the matte to highlight my brow, and maybe use the shimmer end as an eyeshadow color. Both shades are very pretty and creamy.

The next 2 things in the box are a Milani eyeshadow in the shade “Bella Taupe” and an Ofra Cosmetics liquid lipstick in the shade “Mocha”. I have a few Milani products that I love but I have never tried their eyeshadow so I am excited to give this a try. It says it is a Gel Powder Eyeshadow, and it is a pretty soft brown taupe shade. I also own quite a few Ofra products, including liquid lipsticks but I do not own this shade. This is a very pretty mauve shade, and I think it is perfect for fall.

Also in the box is Mocha-Kyssed Bronzer Lotion by Mystic Tan. I am really fair skinned and to me, I am really picky about my self-tanners so this is kind of a miss for me. There is a chance I will try it after looking at reviews, but I rarely self tan especially during the fall months. You also receive a Large Angled 504 Luxie Brush. I have never tried any Luxie brushes but I have heard good things about them, and it seems really soft so I am excited to try this one out the next time I do my makeup.

And that wraps up the Fall 2016 Beautycon Box. I think this was a pretty good box, and a good deal for less than $40. I do admit I like previous boxes more, but this is still not bad. The main misses for me were the Simple wipes, and the Mystic Tan lotion. I should definitely be getting use out of everything else though. Until next time everyone, thanks for reading!

July Boxycharm

Hey everyone! So today’s post is going to be an unboxing/first impression of my July Boxycharm. This is my 2nd Boxycharm box and so far, I have loved this subscription. For those of you who don’t know Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box for $21 a month. Let’s get started.

The first item I pulled out of my box was by PYT Hair and it is an argan oil treatment. This is said to control frizz, make your hair shine, as well as prevent split ends. I use argan oil with my makeup, so I am excited to try some for my hair. I also just love trying new hair treatments because I honestly do not know much about hair. This does have a slight scent, that seems a little masculine to me, but it is a nice scent and not too strong. Overall I am excited to try this product, it retails for $30 and you can get it on the PYT Hair website.

The next thing I pulled out was a Mally Beauty waterproof eyeliner pencil. I have received a few different Mally Beauty products in previous subscription boxes such as Ipsy, but I really never am too impressed by them and they typically end up in my barely used drawer.  This is a very pretty color though, it is the shade “Ice Blue” and it has a very pretty shimmer to it. You can purchase this on the Mally Beauty website for $18.

The next product is by Noyah, which is a brand I have never heard of so that excites me to try it. It is a lip gloss in the shade “Malbec”. The first things I noticed was the packaging which is very pretty and simple, and also it is a really big lip gloss, so of course I love that. When I swatch it, it is a very pretty darkish pink shade with a really nice shine. It doesn’t feel sticky or uncomfortable. I am really excited to wear this because it seems like a good formula and I want to see how long it lasts. This retails on the Noyah website for $16.

The final product is actually multiple products in one and I am so so so so excited for this one. It is by Ofra Cosmetics and it is an Ofra Pro magnetic palette. This was made exclusively for Boxycharm and also came with six different Ofra eyeshadows which retail at $10 a piece. One of my shadows came broken which was a bummer, but another bummer was that 2 of the shadows didn’t seem as pigmented and creamy as the others, but I want to work with them and give them a try. I am mostly excited for the magnetic palette, I had some single shadows laying around with no home, so I was able to put them in and fill the palette. The shadows it came with by Ofra are Bohemian, Buttercup, Smoke, Iron, Truffle, and Millennium Gold. Although I am not sure which is which because they were not listed on the actual pans. This was a great deal because the shadows alone are $60 total, and that doesn’t even include the exclusive palette.

Once again I am extremely happy with my Boxycharm. It retails for $124, not including the palette. I can not wait for August to receive my next box. Who else loves Boxycharm?! Thanks for reading!

June Boxycharm

Hey everyone! So today’s post is going to be an unboxing basically, of my June boxycharm. So for those of you who do not know, Boxycharm is a $21 monthly beauty subscription box. This is my first box from them and I believe every box comes with 5-6 full size products, this box came with 5. So I just opened my box and these are my initial thoughts on all the products. Let’s jump on in.

So the first thing I noticed in the box, which I knew this product would be included is, a 3 pack of Farmacy sheet masks. They are the Brightening Hydrating Coconut Gel Masks. I know this brand is sold at Sephora but the box of these masks say that these are exclusively for Boxycharm, and I love hydrating sheet masks so I am really excited to try these. It also says that these are naturally derived ingredients, paraben free, free of formaldehyde and artificial coloring, and no animal testing. It says that it helps to even skin tone, overall clarity, and also hydration of course. It says that this retails for $24.

The next product I pulled out of the box was the Cougar Beauty Mineral Face & Body Shimmer. This is a mineral powder basically to add wherever you may want to glow and have some sparkle. It is in the shade “Diamond Kiss”. This product is also from the UK I believe. At least that is where the packaging says it is manufactured. I am also very excited to try this product because I am going to Las Vegas next week and I think this will be great for going to the pool, or out to at night when I want that extra glow and sparkle. It is also a subtle sparkle, it is definitely there but to me it doesn’t look like cheap tacky glitter. This retails for $16.

The next product is the Girlactik Beauty Precise Eyeliner Marker. So as soon as I opened the box I swatched this liner and 30 seconds later I rubbed it with a napkin….nothing. It did not smudge at all, a little tiny bit went onto the napkin but the swatch itself still looked flawless and not touched at all. It seems to also be very lightweight and it says it is long lasting, which being smudge proof I am sure it is long lasting. I am not the best at winged liner but this point is so precise I feel like it will even be easy for me to use. I am very excited to try this out. It retails for $20.

The next product, and the product I am least excited about is a LVX Nail Polish. It says that this is a long lasting, chip resistant polish with a gel-like formula. It is also vegan friendly, which is a plus. I am honestly just not really a nail polish person, I occasionally get acrylics done at the nail shop, but I rarely paint my own nails. One thing that bothers me is the packaging, there is a square cap on top that you remove to get to the actual lid and brush. This top does nothing, it doesn’t even stay on. It is pointless and I feel like maybe mine is broken because I don’t understand why it just keeps falling off. Also I do think you will need about 2-3 coats of this polish to really not have any of your natural nail show. This is the shade “Serene” and it retails for $18.

The final product in the box is the Ofra Oil Control Pressed Powder. I do love Ofra Cosmetics but I am not too excited about this product because my skin is rarely ever oily. I typically have very dry skin, with my t-zone rarely getting oily. It is a pretty big pan though, and it also seems like it will be good to use to set my concealer. It is also the most expensive product in the box and retails at $39.95.

So as far as just unboxing the box so far I am very impressed with this subscription. I will actually use all of these products, and the first three I would actually purchase if I had seen them in a store somewhere. The total retail price of the box is about $118 and for only spending $21, I think I definitely got my money worth. Thanks for reading everyone!

Rocksbox Subscription

Hey everyone! So today is a super quick blog post. I have been trying out a new subscription box that I wanted to share with all of you once I had the chance to really try it and look into it.

So lets break it all down. Rocksbox is a name brand jewelry rental subscription for $19 a month. You pay the $19 a month and in return you receive 3 name brand jewelry pieces at a time to wear for however long you want, and then you send them back whenever you are done and get three more pieces in return. Best thing about it? If you like the piece, you keep it and pay a low discounted member’s only price. How do you know you will even like the products? Rocksbox is extremely personalized! Not only do you fill out a survey for them to get to know you better, but then you can make your own wishlist on their site and they will assign you a stylist! Your stylist will pick an item off of your wishlist and then send you two other items with it that will go well with your own style.

I love to change up my accessories and always wear something new, so this subscription is perfect for me. You also get high end products without spending the high end price. I love to look “rich” without the price tag, it is one of my favorite things. It is also very easy to send the items back, you receive them in an envelope that fits in your mailbox, so you can just put the items back in that envelope with the return shipping label they provide, and just put it right back into your mailbox. It is that simple!

So, if you all want to give Rocksbox a try, they did give me a code “Corinnascornerxoxoxo” to receive your first month absolutely free! If you end up not liking it, (which I doubt will happen) all you do is unsubscribe on the website and you will never be charged! If you love it, (which you will) all you do is keep adding to your wishlist so they can keep sending you amazing products! Thanks for reading everyone. Let me know if you have ever tried Rocksbox, and what you think about it!

Summer BeautyCon Box

Hey everyone! So for today’s post I wanted to do a quick little review/unboxing of the Summer BeautyCon box in collaboration with beauty youtuber Kandee Johnson. BeautyCon  does seasonal boxes, so these boxes are once every 3 months for $29. Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. I have received this box for almost a year now and I have yet to be disappointed. With that being said, in my opinion this is my favorite BeautyCon box I have ever received. So lets just jump into it.

The first product I pulled out of the box was the Benzac Acne Solutions “Blemish Clearing Hydrator”. I have not tried this product out yet but I am actually really excited to try it. I have been wanting to buy an acne spot treatment for a while now and now I finally have one. Has anybody else tried this product out yet? It retails for $12 at Target, but you can order it off Amazon for only about $6!

The next thing I grabbed out of the box was the Garner “Clearly Brighter” Moisturizer Sunscreen. I have gotten to try this out but only once so far. I loved it. I feel like it really did brighten my face up and also gave it a little bit of extra hydration. It is SPF 15 so sun protection is always a plus to me. I will definitely be using this product again. This retails for $12 and you can find it in drugstores or Ulta.

Next out of the box I grabbed the Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil. This says it will “effortlessly and completely remove waterproof makeup, dirt & oil”. So I tried this product out and I did not like it. I am willing to give it a second try but I am really just not a big fan of oils. I just feel like they are so greasy and oily, but this oil was not too bad. It did not leave any residue and I think it did an alright job taking off my makeup. I myself just prefer makeup wipes or a cleansing water. This retails for $8.99 at Ulta.

The biggest product in the box is the Redken Fashion Waves Sea Salt Spray. I tried this product and I don’t think it really gave my hair much texture. I noticed a slight difference but not much. Next time I will try to just use more of the product. I did like how it didn’t leave my hair feeling gross or anything like that, my hair wasn’t a complete mess the next morning. This retails for $19.50 at Ulta so that is a pretty high priced product to be in the box.

The next thing I grabbed out and what I am most excited for is the Coverfx Double Sided Contour Brush. I love brushes and I am always willing to try new ones so I was really excited to see this, especially because I have never tried a Coverfx brush before. I have  yet to try this brush but it does feel nice and dense yet soft. I like how one side is smaller so you can do a nice nose contour and then the other side is for your cheekbones. This brush is on Beautylish for $38. I am very happy with this product being in the box.

The box also came with a NYX Ombre Lip Duo Stick. I was very excited to see this as well because I have been wanting to try one of these lipsticks out. I love how it comes with the two different shades to do the ombre so you don’t have to guess what shades would look good together. It is a very pretty bright color. This product retails for $11.99. The box also came with a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil. It is in the shade Cashmere and it is SUCH a pretty color. It is an amazing golden highlight color. I have used it as an eyeshadow and I just blend it out with my finger. I want to even try it as a highlighter because the color is just so pretty. This product retails for $4.50.

I also got very excited to see the deluxe sample size of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. I love the original mascara and have a full sized tube of it so I haven’t gone out to buy the full size waterproof one yet so it is nice that I have one to use now. I love this mascara, it gives my lashes great volume. I also think this packaging is so cool and the mascara tube really does look like it has drops of water on it. The full size mascara retails for $23 at Sephora and Ulta.

The next item was a deluxe sample size of the Smashbox Brow Tech Shaping Powder in the shade Taupe. I have tried this product and I love it. It is my favorite brow powder. It is long lasting and doesn’t smudge. I like the applicator that it comes with and how easy and mess free it is to apply. The full size of this product retails for $25.

The box also came with a sample of Versa Spa Face Moisturizing Gradual Tanner. I do not really use tanning products so I do not have much to say on this one. I will keep it to use if I tan over the summer to keep my face matching my body. My stepsister has used this brand before though and she told me that she liked it, and she has used many tanning products before so I trust her opinion. The full size of this product retails for $35.

Lastly, the box came with two different LA Fresh Wipes. One wipe is an “Instant Cooling Body Soother” wipe, and it has peppermint moisture in it. I am actually really excited to try this wipe, it says to wipe it wherever you are feeling fatigued or stress and then to breathe deeply and you will feel a soothing, cooling sensation. It also came with an “Oil Free Face Cleanser” Wipe. I will probably try this wipe out when I take my makeup off tonight. I love wipes, I always keep some in my car, purse, room, bathroom, and everywhere else. I have a weird obsession with them. A pack of these wipes retail for about $8.

So that is it for the Summer BeautyCon Box with Kandee Johnson. This is hands down my favorite box I have received from them. It has a total value of over $106, not even including the samples. It also comes with a a 15% off code + free shipping for The Edit pop up shop by Seventeen. This box was totally worth it and I can’t wait for my next box in the fall Thanks for reading you guys!
